Case Study: Community Spaces on the Main Island
In this video, I talk to you about STA Travel's community spaces, the Dorm and Sandbox areas. It shows a brief tour of these two features of the island intended to increase collaboration.
For the Dorm area, residents can customize their own dorm rooms, invite friends, and keep this area just for them provided by STA Travel.
The Sandbox is a place where residents can practice on their building and texture creativity without it being overcrowded like many other sandboxes in SL.

Case Study: Intro Video in SL at STA Travel's Main Office
Here I am, Blake Stringfellow, in Second Life giving you an introduction to STA Travel and the case study I'm leading. I'll outline the decision process STA Travel went through in deciding whether they would build a presence in Second Life. Also, I'll discuss why STA Travel entered SL and the community it wants to form in this extremely creative and vibrant virtual world. Here is the video explaining this part of the case study.

Case Study: The STA Travel Islands

Not only can you enjoy STA Travel island, you can also learn from it! I'm Blake Ives, a professor at the University of Houston and my avatar is Blake Stringfellow. I'm writing a case study about the island to use in classes for students interested in learning about Second Life Commerce.
The case, which will eventually have three sections, follows the development of the island from the original decision to build it, through the design, and then to the first weeks after its opening.
The first part of the case is already available http://homepage.mac.com/bives/STA_Case_A.doc.
Please feel free to read the case, wrestle in class discussion with the decision to go ahead with the build, and then, either on your own or in class, visit the completed island and see, and discuss, the final design. Classes being run in Second Life are welcome to meet on the island too.
Also, be sure to watch the videos I added to the blog. They are very informative and will show you what the STA Travel islands look like.
